First of all, ordinary machine tools are used to add parts. Generally, before processing, the process personnel formulate the part processing process specification (process card). In the process specification, the process sequence, cutting parameters, machines, tools and fixtures are specified. Machining parts with CNC gantry milling machine generally also needs to go through these steps. It compiles the movement and process parameters of NC machining into a machining program list in the special code and program format of the NC machine according to the action sequence, and then makes the contents of the program list into control instructions to the NC device, so as to control the automatic machining of the NC gantry milling machine.

According to the command format of the NC machine tool, the calculated tool path is written into the corresponding program segment, and the perforated paper tape or other control media (such as magnetic tape, magnetic disk, etc.) that transmits the machining instructions to the machine tool is prepared with the code of G. However, although the advanced control media at home and abroad tend to replace the CNC paper tape with the floppy disk in the program server, most domestic manufacturers still use the CNC paper tape as the main control media.
