As we know, tool magazine and automatic tool changing device are the most frequently used components in vertical machining centers, especially when there are many workpiece processing contents, it is necessary to change tools frequently to achieve processing in different processes. If there is a problem with the machine tool itself or some abnormality occurs in processing, it will lead to tool jamming in the tool magazine. There are many failures that cause the tool jam in the tool magazine of the vertical machining center. The common ones are external factors such as kinetic energy cut-off, which is commonly known as sudden power failure, or insufficient air pressure, and the tool can not be pulled out normally. However, the internal causes are more common, such as the abnormal position of the second tool change origin and the incorrect orientation angle of the spindle.
1. Incorrect spindle orientation angle
In general, most of the directional angle runs are caused by machine collision, or problems with the synchronous toothed belt of the main shaft, resulting in errors in the directional angle. Inaccurate orientation will also cause problems such as abnormal tool change in the tool magazine.
2. Abnormal position of the second tool change origin
If the vertical machining center has a machine collision accident caused by misoperation, it is easy to lead to incorrect origin of tool change, which is manifested as abnormal sound of tool extraction and tool loading of the tool arm during tool change, and even lead to tool jamming. The tool arm will be damaged after a long time.

2、 Solutions to tool magazine clamping failures of CNC gantry milling machines, gantry machining centers and vertical machining centers
To put it simply, there are two cases of tool jam in the tool magazine, one is that the tool is not pulled out, and the other is that the tool has been pulled out. The former case is relatively well solved. We will mainly introduce the solution in the second case.
1. Loosen the brake device on the motor, and use an adjustable wrench to rotate the outer hexagon on the motor. Generally, the direction of rotation is the same as the direction of clamping of the tool arm. In short, the tool arm for automatic tool change is separated from the spindle of the vertical machining center.
2. When the tool arm is separated from the spindle, if there is a tool on the spindle, you can hear the sound of air leakage, that is to say, the spindle is in the state of loosening the tool. This is to be noted. You must cushion something on the tooling, and the tool may fall at this time.
3. Please rotate the tool arm until the tool arm completes a complete tool change. The tool arm also has an origin position. In the tool magazine panel, there are three red lights. Generally, the light in the middle is the indicator light of the tool arm at the origin position.
4. After the tool jam fault is eliminated, turn the brake device of the cutter arm motor back to the original position, and then change the tool once when the vertical machining center is in MDI state to see if it is normal. If it is normal, please remember to check all the tools used in machining, and process under the condition of ensuring safety.
